Khalid Kelly, born Terence Edward Kelly (1967 - November 4th, 2016) was an Irish Islamic terrorist, member of The Islamic State and the leader of Al-Muhajiroun in Ireland. == Arrest and Radicalization == In 1996, Kelly moved from Ireland to Saudi Arabia after discovering that he could work with a tax-free salary at the King Faisal Hospital, only to discover he could make more money by making alcohol, which is illegal in Arabia. After he was caught and imprisoned in 2000, he was given a copy of the Qur'an by an Afghan prison official, and converted to Islam. Kelly was repatriated to Britain in 2002, changed his name to Khalid Kelly and began attending sermons by radical preachers such as Anjem Choudary, Abu Hamza al-Masri and Sulayman Keeler. By 2008, he was on the run from the authorities with his two sons, named after the Prophet Muhammed and Osama bin Laden. == Later life == Having taken refuge in Pakistan, in 2009 Kelly was tracked down by journalists, who interviewed him. During the interview, Kelly stated that he was ready to go to Afghanistan to fight for the Taliban. However, he was deported the following year, and returned to Dublin, where he became the head of Militant Islam organisation Al-Muhajiroun in Ireland. He was arrested in 2011 after calling for the assassination of US president Barack Obama by Al-Qaeda during his visit to Ireland, but was released without charge three days later. In 2016, Kelly arrived in Mosul, Iraq, a city where a pitched battle between the Syrian Defence Force and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant was taking place. On November 4th, Kelly was killed when an improvised explosive device he rigged in his vehicle detonated prematurely.
