Khuram Shazad Butt (20th April 1990 - 3rd June 2017) was a British Muslim and member of Al-Muhajiroun who was the ringleader in the 2017 London Bridge Attack, a Terrorist attack which The Islamic State claimed responsibility for. Prior to the attack, he was the subject of the documentary The Jihadis Next Door. == Attack == On the third of June 2017, Butt, his neighbour Rachid Redouane and a third man, terrorism suspect Youssef Zaghba, used empty water bottles and grey tape to create fake suicide vests, before hiring a Renault van. Butt then drove out to London Bridge with Redouane and Zaghba, intentionally mounting the pavement repeatedly and running over multiple pedestrians, killing two. The van crashed on Borough High Street after the central reservation shredded its tyres, and Butt, Redouane and Zaghba got out, armed with 12 inch kitchen knives. The three of them stabbed and killed five people outside the Green Dragon Pub, before attacking three people on the Borough High Street. Lawyer Ignacio Echeverría Miralles de Imperial intervened and attacked Redouane, knocking him down. He then attacked Zaghba, but was stabbed by Butt and Redouane, later dying outside Lobos Meat and Tapas. They then attacked multiple other people, although several were saved by the intervention of Romanian baker Florin Morariu, who attacked one of them with a crate and then helped 20 people seek refuge in his bakery. Eventually, eight minutes after the attack began, armed police officers arrived at the scene. CCTV shows Butt, Redouane and Zaghba running towards the officers, and being gunned down 20 seconds later. All three were refused the right to Islamic burials following their deaths by over 130 imams.
