Lee Smith is a British man responsible for a violent unprovoked assault against Paul Humphries, a man with learning difficulties.

Attack edit

On 26 December 2018, Smith was at the Alexander Pub when Humphries, a man who has learning difficulties, a speech impediment and is deaf in both ears, requiring hearing aids, put on a karaoke performance. Smith took offence to this for an unknown reason and followed him out of the pub before pummelling him, breaking his nose, right eye socket and right cheekbone. Humphries was taken to hospital, where he was treated for a brain haemorrhage suffered as a result of the beating. Smith, who had previously served 16 months in prison for possessing a knife, was ultimately convicted on 22 April 2020 and sentenced to three years and four months in prison, followed by 18 years on licence.
