Louis XIV of France (September 5, 1638 - September 1, 1715), also known as the Sun King, was king of France from May 14, 1643 until his death on September 1, 1715. Under his rule, he pacified the nobility using his Palace of Versailles and therefore was able to rule France with an iron fist.
He also abolished the rights of Protestants in France.
