Mahdi Mohamud is a British Somali terrorist who was responsible for the 2018 Manchester Victoria attack. He was a supporter of The Islamic State who moved to England in 2008.

On 13 December 2018, Mohamud attacked a man named James Knox in Manchester's Victoria station and stabbed in the neck, head and shoulders with a fillet knife. He then attacked Knox's girlfriend Anna Charlton, slashed her face and stabbed her in the lung. Police officers and train staff, attracted by Charlton's screams, cut Mohamud off as he tried to escape, and Sergeant Lee Valentine attempted to Taser him. This had no effect because the probes got tangled in Mohamud's coat and he was able to stab Valentine in the shoulder before being subdued and arrested. All three of his victims made a full recovery in hospital.

Mohamud was initially detained under the Mental Health Act due to claims he suffered from schizophrenia; however, the attack was later found to be terrorist related due to witnesses reporting that Mohamud shouted "This is for Allah!", "Allah Akbar!" and "Long live the caliphate!" during and after the attack. He pleaded guilty to attempted murder and terrorism and sentenced to life imprisonment, to be served in a mental health hospital due to his schizophrenia.
