Early life edit
Born on the 24th of April 1979 as Mark Van Krevel, Mark was one of two children raised by single father Jack Van Krevel.
By Mark's and his sister Belinda's accounts, their childhoods were fraught with physical and sexual abuse at the hands of their father. By Belinda's account, she fell victim to her dad’s violence, receiving punches and kicks for no apparent reason. She also claimed that her father once hit Mark so hard he had to be hospitalised. She also said that her dad once held a gun to Mark’s head threatening to "blow his brains out".
A neighbour would counter these accusations by saying Jack tried his hardest to be a good father by going to parenting and self-help courses. He tried to pick-up his children from school in their younger years and took Mark to a private tutor when he was struggling at school.
