== The Shooting == Zehaf-Bibeau first bypassed the Canadian National War Memorial, where he killed Corporal Nathan Cirillo, a Canadian soldier and reservist on ceremonial sentry duty. He later entered through the main entrance of Peace Tower. A constable on duty, Samearn Son, alerted the other officers that an intruder with a weapon was on grounds. Son attempted to disarm Zehaf-Bibeau, but failed after Zehaf-Bibeau shot him in the lower body (though Son managed to survive). Though he later ran inside Peace Tower, alerted security officers later shot and killed him on scene. Authorities have found an extensive criminal record prior to the shootings, with criminal history going towards larceny, drug possession, and parole violations.
