Mindy McCready (November 30, 1975 - February 17, 2013) was a country singer who is known for having an extensive criminal history. She was also seemingly responsible for the death of her record producer, David Wilson, and was truly responsible for the death of Wilson's pet dog.

Mindy's extensive criminal history dated back to 2004, when she was arrested for using a fake prescription to acquire OxyContin. She pleaded guilty to the charges and received a $4000 fine, as well as a three year probation sentence and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service. Mindy was arrested twice in 2005; her more notable July arrest was for identity theft, among other various crimes. In July 2007, Mindy was arrested again and charged with battery, regarding a scuffle with her own mother, and she was taken into custody a week afterwards for violating her probation (her second such offense). She was sentenced to a year in jail and given two more years of probation in September, though she was released from jail in December.

On January 13, 2013, Mindy's record producer and her lover, David Wilson, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Mindy was accused of killing Wilson, though the death was officially ruled a suiclde. A month later on February 17, however, Mindy committed suicide via gunshot in the same front porch where Wilson killed himself. Before her death, Mindy shot and killed Wilson's pet dog, making her actions an animal murder-suicide.
