It was founded in 1976 and was created from a merger of '''''Ghjustizia Paolina''''' and the '''''Fronte Paesanu Corsu di Liberazione''''', the two largest Corsican armed organizations. The '''FLNC''' carried out its first attacks on the night of 4 May 1976 with 21 bombs exploding in Ajaccio, Bastia, Sartène, Porto-Vecchio and other Corsican towns. The majority of the targets were public buildings and offices of estate agents. On 5 May the '''FLNC''' formally announced its existence when it issued a bilingual manifesto which also claimed responsibility for the previous night's attacks. Later, the organization would continue making terrorist attacks during the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s and 2010s, in the so-called [[Corsican Conflict]], where they would face the forces of France and Italy. Already in June 2014, the '''FLNC''' announced the cessation of the armed struggle, and in 2016 they officially finished their military operations. Even with this, former members of the organization have committed some attacks to this day.
