Originally a sicario (hitman) for the Milenio Cartel, he became the leader of one of its factions when its leader Óscar Orlando Nava Valencia was arrested. This faction, Los Torcidos, later became the dominant faction and assumed the name under which it is known today. == Biography == === Early life and drug business === Oseguera was born in Aguililla, Michoacan, Mexico on July 17, 1966. He dropped out of school at the age of 14 to work in the fields, and at the age of 19 illegally immigrated to Central California. While there, he became involved in metamphetamine production distribution together with his friend (later brother-in-law) Abigael González Valencia and his brother Abraham Oseguera Cervantes. They were deported in 1986, but returned, only to be busted for heroin. In 1994 Cervantes was arrested and sentenced to three years in prison. After his sentence ended, Oseguera was deported to Mexico, and returned to drug smuggling in Tijuana. It is believed that the local cartel could have killed him, but made a gentleman's agreement allowing him to simply leave their plaza. === Rise to power === Following Oseguera's departure, he became a police officer in Tomatlán, Jalisco. However, soon afterwards he again became involved in drug trafficking, this time as a bodyguard for Milenio Cartel leaders. To consolidate his power within the organization and links to the Valencia family, Oseguera married Rosalinda González Valencia, Abigael's sister, in 1996. === Milenio Cartel split === In 2010, the Milenio Cartel's leaders were arrested, fracturing the organization as members blamed each other for the busts. One of these factions, Los Torcidos(The Twisted) was led by Oseguera, and they began fighting not only their rival faction La Resistencia, but also Los Zetas. The latter move was intended to attract support for the Torcidos, as the Zetas were widely feared because of their brutality. == Notable villainy == * Kidnapping Ivan Archivaldo and Jesus Alfredo Guzman * Corrupting 50 percent of all municipal police in Jalisco == Trivia == * The nickname Mencho is a derivation of his given name Nemesio. * Another nickname, Señor de los Gallos(Lord of the Roosters), refers to his interest in cockfights. * He's currently the DEA's second most wanted, behind only Ismael Zambada García.
