Obdulia Sanchez (born April 5, 1999) is a woman who gained notoriety for her actions as a vehicular villainess in 2017.
On July 21, 2017, Obdulia--18 at the time--was livestreaming while driving with her younger sister, Jacqueline Sanchez (14). At some point, Obdulia took her hands off the wheel, and she ended up crashing into a field that was close to the highway they were on. The crash injured Obdulia and killed Jacqueline, but even after her sister was killed, Obdulia continued livestreaming--pleading with her sister to wake up.
It was also reported that Obdulia was driving while intoxicated (her blood alcohol content was 0.106), and she was arrested that day and charged with (among other crimes) vehicular manslaughter. Obdulia was convicted in 2018 and sentenced to six years in prison, while expressing extreme guilt over her actions. On September 21, 2019, Obdulia was released on parole due to good behavior, after only serving 26 months in prison.
On October 17, 2019, less than a month after her release, Obdulia was arrested again for traffic and parole violations, as well as weapons possession. The arrest came when she refused to pull over under the orders of the police, leading to a brief pursuit which saw an unnamed man escape her vehicle. After Obdulia was stopped, a loaded .45 caliber handgun was found inside her car. She is due back in court on October 21.
