Biography edit
Conlon was born in Sunderland, England, on 5 January 1978. He started playing football professionally with Hartlepool United FC, until he was eventually banned from playing football in 2004 after an incident in which he attacked a referee.
On 24 December 2020, Conlon was staying with his parents for Christmas. Conlon, while drunk, accosted his father Harry Conlon, leading to an argument. Conlon eventually shoved his father to the ground, sat on top of him an punched him repeatedly in the face. Police were called and found Harry Conlon lying on the floor bleeding. He was rushed to hospital and Paul Conlon was arrested for assault.
While Conlon was on bail, his father died from a brain bleed on 18 January 2021. Conlon was re-arrested for murder after the bleed was determined to have been caused by his injuries. Conlon pleaded guilty to manslaughter, a plea which was accepted by prosecutors. On 15 July 2021 he was sentenced to 11 years and 10 months in prison.
