He was infamous for being known as the "angry torch guy" as a result of the angry expression he made while carrying a tiki torch during the rally. At the time of the rally, he was a political science and history student at the University of Nevada, Reno. After being identified as one of the people that attended the rally, he resigned from his campus job and denied being a racist, saying, "as a white nationalist, I care for all people. We all deserve a future for our children and for our culture. White nationalists aren’t all hateful; we just want to preserve what we have," to KTVN, a television station in Reno, Nevada. He also stated that he "came to this march for the message that white European culture has a right to be here just like every other culture". After graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno, he started attending the London School of Economics and became a member of Generation Identity UK and Ireland.
