Philip II of Spain (21 May 1527 - 13 September 1598) was the King of Spain, King of Portugal, and the King of Naples and Sicily, and jure uxoris King of England and Ireland. He was an ardent supporter of the Inquisition. He made attempts to eradicate heresy and monitor the progress of the reform programme.
