Rekha Kumari-Baker (born 1968) is an Indian-born British villainess behind the 2007 murders of her teenage daughters.
Rekha Kumari is the ex-wife of businessman David Baker, having been married to David for two decades and giving birth to their two daughters, Davina and Jasmine. The couple divorced in 2005, after which David moved on with a new girlfriend, Kadi Kone. Rekha became jealous of her ex-husband's new relationship, to the point where she hated seeing her daughters spending time with Kadi. All the while, Rekha was in a different relationship of her own with furniture businessman Jeff Powell, which ended when Jeff broke up with her some time in 2007.
In addition to the breakup, Rekha lost her job as a waitress, and her breakup in addition to David's budding relationship with Kadi increased her fury. Rekha began turning heel in June 2007, when she planned to kill both of her daughters to hurt David emotionally. Her villainous plan began on June 11, when she bought a pair of kitchen knives and later took Davina and Jasmine on a shopping spree, doing so to "soften them up" and mask her fiendish plans. Rehka's heel turn was cemented at 2:30AM on June 13, when she stabbed 16-year-old Davina to death, doing so 39 times. The psychotic madwoman later killed 13-year-old Jasmine by stabbing her 29 times; with both murders committed in their home in Stretham with the knives she had purchased, and while both girls were asleep.
After killing her daughters, the evil Rekha phoned Natalie Barford, a policewoman and friend of hers, and confessed to the murders, revealing that she had spent days thinking about killing Davina and Jasmine. She also left a note confessing to her actions, claiming that she didn't want her daughters hurt like she was by Jeff. Rekha was arrested for the murders, with her true motive being jealousy of David's relationship with Kadi, who David married in 2008. On September 22, 2009, Rekha was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison with a minimum tariff of 33 years.
