You are an evil serial sexual predator who has preyed upon young men who came into the city centre wanting nothing more than a good night out with their friends. One of your victims described you as a monster. The scale and enormity of your offending confirms this an accurate description. Rarely, if ever, have the courts seen such a campaign of rape as this, covering so many victims over a prolonged period.
~ Judge Suzanne Goddard before sentencing Sinaga.

Reynhard Sinaga (born February 1983) is an Indonesian student and serial rapist, who, in 2017, was convicted of 159 sex offences, including 136 rapes of young men committed in Manchester, England, where he was living as a student. He was the most prolific serial rapist in British history.

Crimes edit

Sinaga was born in Sumatra in 1983. He later moved to Britain, where he began living in a luxury flat in Montana House, Central Manchester. Starting in January 2015, Sinaga began going out to nightclubs and taking men back to his apartment, where he would drug them with GHB in order to knock them out and them attack them while they were unconscious, sexually assaulting and raping them. Over a period of two and a half years, he drugged and raped at least 190 people, although the true scale of his offences is unknown, as most of his victims were unaware that they had been assaulted and believed that they had merely passed out drunk. The oldest of his victims was 36 and the youngest was 17.

Sinaga was almost caught in April 2017, when one of his victims went to the police and told them that he believed he had been sexually assaulted. However, due to the drugging, he was unaware of the location of the incident, and stated that he believed he had woken up in a hotel, resulting in the police investigating the Ibis and Pendulum hotels and failing to make any progress. However, he was later caught in June 2017 after one of his victims woke up during the assault and incapacitated him before escaping, taking note of the building he was in, and calling the police. When they raided Sinaga's flat, they found 190 tapes of Sinaga raping his victims, although only 150 were ever identified. He was given four separate trials for his crimes, as the Crown Prosecution Service believed that Sinaga's tapes would be too disturbing for one jury. On 6th January 2020, all four juries convicted him of 136 counts of rape, 8 counts of attempted rape, 2 counts of assault by penetration and 13 counts of sexual assault and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 30 years.
