He became infamous for bearing a "Camp Auschwitz" sweatshirt during the riots. Packer was a far-right extremist who heavily supported the [[Nazi Party]]. Reports also show that Packer also wore an [[Schutzstaffel]] T-Shirt, defending his hateful clothing of choice by claiming that he has every right in America to wear whatever he wants no matter how hateful it is. During his trial, Packer’s younger sister, Kimberly Rice, wrote a letter asking the judge for leniency. Though she admitted Packer's clothing “could be considered in poor taste”, she later defended his decisions believing that “freedom of expression” isn’t a crime, dismissing the fact Packer in fact genuinely believed in Nazi ideologies. He was ultimately sentenced to 75 days in prison. Packer also has a previous criminal history with driving under the influence and falsifying public records. Before the riots, he was booked in 2016 for a trespassing offense, though that case was eventually dismissed.
