Rowan Baxter
Rowan Baxter (died 19 February 2020) was a New Zealand-born rugby league player and the husband of Hannah Clarke. He had a history of violence and had grown up with Misogynist views.
During their relationship, Baxter physically, emotionally, financially and sexually abused Clarke, and abused their three children Aaliyah, Laianah and Trey. He was ultimately given a DVO for kidnapping Aaliyah on Boxing Day, barring him from approaching them.
On 19 February 2020, Baxter approached Clarke's car after she stopped to drop her three children off at school and poured petrol over the car before setting it alight. Aaliyah, Laianah and Trey were burned to death inside the car, whereas Clarke managed to climb out and tell several bystanders that Baxter had set the car on fire before collapsing from her injuries. Baxter attempted to stop bystanders from putting out the fire before stabbing himself to death. Clarke was rushed to the Royal Brisbane Hospital, where she died of her burns.
