Ruslan Akhtyamov

Ruslan Akhtyamov (1996 - 2022) was a 26 year old Russian man who perpetrated the Veshkayma Kindergarden shooting. He had been struggling with mental illness long before the shooting.
Biography edit
There is not much known about Akhtyamov prior to the shooting. His father confirmed he was a avid gun fan and used to practice range shooting at the quarry. It is also said that Akhtyamov suffered from an unspecified mental illness which likely contributed to his attack.
Shooting edit
Akhtyamov broke into the house of an unknown 68 year old local hunter. Akhtyamov killed the man and stole his IZh-27 double-barreled shotgun. Afterwards, Akhtyamov entered the Ryabinka kindergarten where he shot and killed 2 students, a teacher and himself.
Aftermath edit
The governor of the Ulyanovsk region where the shooting occurred, promised families of the victims with medical, psychological and social assistance. Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova called on the National Guard to be on duty in schools and kindergartens. Russkikh and Yuri Bezdudny, the governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, provided their condolences for the tragedy.
