Russell Marsh is a Welsh man who murdered his ex-wife Jade Ward in 2021.

Biography edit

Marsh was born in Flintshire, Wales. He married Jade Ward and they lived in the town of Shotton, having four children together. However, Marsh was abusive and controlling during their marriage and they eventually separated.

On 26 August 2021, Marsh made an excuse to leave work before going to Jade Ward's house. He entered and brutally attacked Jade, stabbing and slashing her with a knife before strangling her to death. He then concealed her body under a pile of clothes. Marsh remained in the house for four hours before putting the four children in his car and dropping them off at a relative's house. He then turned himself in to police and confessed to the murder.

Marsh was jailed for a minimum of 25 years. However, two weeks after the murder the relatives with whom the children were staying were informed that Marsh had requested access to the children's school and medical records. As British law does not automatically remove parental rights from imprisoned convicts, Marsh still has right of access to his children. The Ward family are currently pushing for a law to remove parental rights from any parent convicted of murdering the other parent. At time of writing a petition for this law is to be presented to the UK Parliament for debate.
