Ryan Samsel is a rioter who stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. He became infamous for being one of the first rioters to start the rioting.

Samsel was shown to be carrying a Trump flag, and was shown to be scheming with Proud Boys member Joe Biggs, where it was revealed that Biggs encouraged him to attack the Capitol law enforcement. He later wasted no time confronting the police afterward, escalating many other extremists to follow suit. He brutally assaulted a female police officer to the point where said officer received a serious concussion from his violence. Another guard however later attacked him in self-defense, where he was successfully arrested after succumbing to being beaten on the spot.

Criminals records show that Samsel has a lengthy criminal history. He has a large history of assaulting and abusing people he has problems with, such as in 2006 when he threatened to murder a woman for not paying him back. He also has been charged for breaking and entering into a car in addition to assaulting the male owner of the car in 2007. In 2011, he choked and beat his pregnant girlfriend, where he was convicted of simple assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and unlawful restraint. Another woman also accused him of stalking and raping her in 2019, where he was given a restraining order but violated it multiple times.

He later pleaded that he get released because he has a condition called gynecomastia, which affects blood clotting. U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb however denied his requests.
