“ | I don't know if anyone will ever want to marry me if they know that I killed a boyfriend in self-defense. | „ |
~ Shayna Hubers |
Shayna Hubers is a 24-year-old Kentucky woman who was responsible for the murder of her ex-boyfriend Ryan Poston.
Hubers first met Poston, who was then 28 years of age, on Facebook in 2011 at the age of 19. They met via a mutual connection with Poston's step-cousin, Carissa Carlisle. At the time, Hubers was a psychology student at the University of Kentucky. She graduated cum laude in psychology and was currently pursuing a Master's in school counseling.
Hubers relationship proved to be turbulent and on-and-off, ending their relationship multiple times in a span of 18 months. Poston later moved on and dated Miss Ohio USA contestant Audrey Bolte. Hubers later eventually murdered Poston in his condo on October 12, 2012. When suspected by law enforcement, she repeatedly claimed that it was self-defense, and that Poston was the one that abused her.
She was officially convicted of murder on August 28, 2018. She was ultimately sentenced to life imprisonment with eligibility for parole after 20 years.
