Shinzō Abe (September 21, 1954 - July 8, 2022) was a Japanese politician who served as the Prime Minister for Two Terms from 2006 to 2007, and 2012 to 2020.

He was the longest-serving politician to serve as prime minister in Japan after WWII, and just prior to his resignation, his numerous corruption issues and discriminatory remarks were called into question, but he ultimately resigned as prime minister due to a chronic illness. In 2022, he was assassinated by Tetsuya Yamagami during a speech of support, which led to the discovery of the Liberal Democratic Party's cozy relationship with the Unification Church led by his death.

Trivia

  • He wrote a best-selling book denying Imperial Japan's war crimes in China and Korea. In addition, he was in league with the Nippon Kaigi, an ultranationalist revisionist organization dedicated to whitewashing Imperial Japan's atrocities.
  • His maternal grandfather was Nobusuke Kishi, who governed the puppet state of Manchukuo, which Abe glorified him for.
