Tommy McMurtry is an American preacher and pastor of the Liberty Baptist Church in Rock Falls, Illinois. McMurtry is strongly opposed to the LGBTQ Community and asserts that all homosexual individuals are "perverts". Additionally, he has defended Faithful Baptist Church leader Steven Anderson's comments about celebrating the 2016 Pulse Nightclub mass shooting where 49 gay nightclub attendees were murdered by gunman Omar Mateen.

He is also a part of the larger New Independent Fundamental Baptist Movement. The church is currently listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) because of his and Anderson's radical stances.

There is a popular theory that McMurtry is sexually attracted to pumpkins, but since he actively refuses to take a stance publicly, it can't be known for sure.
