Taiping Heavenly Kingdom edit

Taiping Heavenly Kingdom was Christian theocratic totalitarian unrecognized state that started rebellion against Qing Dynasty and it existed from 1851 to 1864. The rebellion would become one of deadilest wars in history and it helped downfall and thus fall of China's last imperial dynasty.

Origins edit

In 19th century Qing China has experienced series of problems that would be called "century of humiliation". This included economic problems, famines and attack by European powers.

Starting with 1807, the Christian missionaries has starting working from Guangzhou (Canton).

In 1843 Hong Xiuquan with Feng Yushan founded the God Worshipping Society which was precursor to Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. It initially grew by suppressing the bandits and pirates, but the Qing suppression caused group to escalate into rebellion and eventally the civil war.

The kingdom was founded in January 11, 1851 when Hong Xiuquan declared himself "Heavenly King"

In 1853 they captured Nanjing and renamed it to Tianjing. Because Xiuquan believed all Manchus to be "demons" they started genocide against Manchus.

They has tried to take Shanghai in August 1860 but is prevented by Chinese and European troops.

The kingdom is finally defeated in 1864 when its capital city is recaptured by Qing dynasty.

Policies edit

The policies they introduced included following:

  • Making society classless and declaring gender equality
  • Separation of sex despite this above thus essentially making it "separate but equal".
  • Conversion of all Chineses into Christian.
  • Banning of foot binding..
  • Replacing lunar calendar with solar calendar
  • Prohibition of opium, gambling, tobacco, alcohol, polygomy, slavery, prostitution.

Legacy edit

The rebellion has caused 30 to 50 million deaths and accelerated the downfall of Qing dynasty.

It weakened Qing dynasty and it lead to rise of regionalism and power of provincial armies in which in turn it lead to Warlord era in China.

In response to rebellion, Qing dynasty launched genocide against Hakkas that has killed 30,000 daily during height of anti-Hakka massacres.

Communist Party of China viewed Taiping Heavenly Kingdom as proto-communist state.

Taiping Rebellion edit

Taiping Rebellion was civil war between Qing China and Taiping Heavenly Kingdom from 1850 to 1864. It has killed 20 to 30 million people and it is one of largest war in history.

Manchu Invasion of China or Transition from Ming to Qing was 30-years long conflict between Ming China and Manchus that led to Ming dynasty being replaced by Qing dynasty.

Chinese Civil War edit

Chinese Civil War was conflict in China between Communist Party of China and Kuomintang that has lasted from 1927 to 1950 with decade-long interruption when Chiang Kai-shek was detained by his generals so can force him to establish Second United Front and thus fight the Imperial Japan. It resulted in CPC taking over mainland China while Kuomintang has retreated to Taiwan where they consecutive ruled it until 2000.

The Republic of China was created in 1912 when Xinhai revolution removed last imperial dynasty of China.

But Yuan Shikai in its ambitions who was named as its president has killed Song and then immeditately established short-lived monarchy. This has failed after rebellion and it died in 1916.

Warlord Era edit

Warlord Era was period in China from 1916 to 1928 when the majority of country was ruled by warlords.

It started when Yuan Shikai died in 1916 after his attempt to bring back the monarchy failed.

Second Czechoslovak Republic was regime that has created in October 1938 as result of Munich Agreement which ceded the Sudetenland to Germany. It lasted until 15 March 1939 when Germany occupied the reminder of Czechoslovakia and established the Protecterate of Bohemia and Moravia. Its only president was Emil Hácha and it had only two prime ministers. Unlike its precusor it was authoritarian republic that has repressed opposition and oppresed Jews..

Background edit

Czechoslovakia which was created in 1918 had ethnic minorities such as Poles, Germans and Hungarians and these minorities want to join their country.

This has not changed until 1929 when Great Depression thus affecting many countries especially in Germany where Hitler become chancellor in 1933 and then turned it into dictatorship. Meanwhile at same year Sudeten German Party was formed after Czechoslovak government banned NSDAP.

Munich Agreement which was signed by Germany, Italy and United Kingdom and France in 29 September 1938 has forced Czechoslovakia to give Sudetenland to Germany. Day later Germany led by Hitler annexed the Sudetenland.

Then Polish army under Bortnowski occupied the Cieszyn Silesia and Hungary meanwhile occupied the southern Slovakia after the First Vienna Award. Whereas Slovakia gained autonomy.

In 5 October President Beneš resigned and is suddenly replaced by Hácha.

Unlike Czechoslovak First Republic it was undemocratic regime that is led by Party of National Unity headed by Emil Hácha.

Slovak Republic (1939-1945) edit

Slovak Republic was fascist client state that was established in 14 March 1939 when Germany occupied the Czechoslovakia and it existed until 4 April 1945 when Red Army defeated it.

The state is formed in 14 March 1939 in wake of German occupation of Czechoslovakia under leadership of Jozef Tiso.

Then on 23 March 1939 Hungary attacked the state resulting in eight-day war that resulted in Slovakia ceding a land strip in East to Hungary. Six month later when Germany invaded the Poland, Slovakia join the invasion in way to take over the disputed territories.

Sudeten German Party was political party in Czechoslovakia from 1933 to 1938 led by Konrad Henlein. It was established in 1 October 1933 under name of Front of the Sudeten German Homeland when Czechoslovak government has banned the NSDAP.
