== Background == He was born in England in 1946. As a child, Coleman was undecided about his career path, but at the age of 12, a family friend encouraged him to become a doctor. In 1970, he qualified as a doctor and worked as a general practitioner. Also, In1981, he was fined by the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Department_of_Health_and_Social_Care DHSC] for refusing to write the name of his diagnosis on a medical report because he believed it violated confidentiality regarding his patients. He surrendered his medical license in March 2016 and is therefore not currently registered or licensed as a GP Principal. After the publication of his first book, "The Medicine Men", Coleman left the National Health Service to devote himself to writing.
