Yang Zhiya Liu Xinhai (July 29, 1968-February 14, 2004) was a Chinese serial killer who brutally murdered sixty-seven people. He would break into people's homes and kill entire families with their own gardening tools such as hammers, shovels, and axes.
Early Life
Yang Xinhai was born on July 29, 1968 to a very poor family in Zhengyang County, Zhumadian, Henan Province, China. He was the youngest of four children. At age 17 he dropped out of school, and ran away from home to work as a labourer.
Criminal Life
In 1988 and 1991, Yang was arrested for theft. He was also sentenced to prison for 5 years for attempted rape in 1996. On September 19, 2000, Yang killed two people in their home. Less than a month later he killed three more people, and raped one woman. Yang continued killing until his arrest on November 3, 2003 when he was acting suspicious and was interviewed by police. They found out he was wanted for murder in four different provinces. In all Yang Xinhai killed 67 people, raped 23 women, and injured 10 others.
Execution
On February 14, 2004 Yang Xinhai was executed by a firing squad for the murder of 67 people that went on for 3 years. It was later revealed Yang had contracted H.I.V from one of his victims.
