Numerous atrocities are perpetrated by the Ottomans, including the [[Church raiding|destruction of Orthodox churches]], widespread [[looting]], the [[rape]] of women and young girls, and [[slavery|enslavement]] of children. The siege results in the death of Byzantine Emperor Constantine XI, marking the final collapse of the Byzantine Empire.
