Coon''' (September 22, 1993 - October 10, 2007) was an American student who perpetrated the [[W:SuccessTech Academy shooting|SuccessTech Academy shooting]] on October 10th, 2007. Armed with two revolvers and folding knives, Asa injured two teachers and two students before ultimately committing suicide. == Early Life == Asa H. Coon was born to mother Lori Looney and uninvolved father Thomas Coon on September 22, 1993.<ref>http://criminal-justice.iresearchnet.com/system/asa-coon/</ref> Asa Coon's early life was fraught with neglect, crime and abuse. In 1997, at age three, a caseworker for the New York Cortland County Social Services Department was called to visit the home found it to be in squalid condition, with garbage strewn throughout the property. Neighbors had also reported that Asa’s older brothers, Stephen and Daniel, had threatened them with weapons that included rocks, knives, and a fake bomb. The children would later be taken from their mother's care after she was found guilty of neglect. <ref>http://criminal-justice.iresearchnet.com/system/asa-coon/<nowiki/>https://schoolshooters.info/asa-coon</ref> Eventually the family would be reunited and move to Cleveland, Ohio. Asa, at age eleven, would be arrested for attacking his mother, yelling obscenities at her, and punching her in the left eye. As punishment, Asa to attend six hours per week of counseling, attend an anger management course, and perform community service. During theses counseling sessions, Asa made suicidal statements and was prescribed medications to alleviate his depression and hyperactivity. Despite these difficulties, caseworker reports show Coon to be nice and well mannered. == Shooting == === Background === Two days prior to the shooting, Coon had received a three-day suspension from the SuccessTech alternative high school for an altercation with another student regarding the existence of God.<ref>[http://www.cleveland.com/schoolshooting/plaindealer/index.ssf?/schoolshooting/more/who_was.html|Stephens, Scott; Rachel Dissell (2007-10-11).
