Category talk:Laughably Evil
Unnecessary Category :( edit
Yo I do like this category ngl but I feel like its the exact same as Internet Memes. Between the two I definitely prefer "Laughably evil" but I believe they are too similar to both coexist. BigSec (talk) 19, December 2022 14:56 (UTC)
I think this category should be kept in my opinion... edit
Because it's actually very distinct from the "Internet Memes" unlike how that one user claims that they are "similar". If a villain becomes an Internet meme, then this means that they are subject to mockery on the Internet, likely in a satirical or hilarious fashion, BUT if a villain is "laughably evil", then this simply means that the villain is known for having a humorous personality. It is true that both this category and the "Internet Memes" can be similar in some aspects (such as having a comedic feel), and while some real life villains can simultaneously fall under both, it must be noted that others may only be seen as one, not the other.
For example, both Adolf Hitler and Vladimir Putin are taken as valid menaces to society, whilst genuinely lacking humorous traits and their crimes are/were taken seriously to the point where people would genuinely cower due to their gravity, but they were inevitably made fun of by those on the Internet, often painting them in an otherwise farcical light but by contrast, Idi Amin Dada and Charles Manson, whilst they also became Internet memes, they didn't do so to the same extent as Hitler or Putin, but both Amin Dada and Manson were known for having jocular personalities even despite their crimes being serious (Idi Amin Dada was the more silly kind, while Charles Manson was the more snarky kind), but as we all know, these were charming facades to cover up their crimes. Meanwhile, a simultaneous example of where both would be the case would be Andrew Tate.
So, in short, when a villain becomes an "Internet meme", then it means that they are facetiously made fun of on the Internet in spades, while if a villain is "laughably evil", then this means that the villain themselves is known for having that exact same facetious personality (often used as a means to downplay their malicious acts).
Do you see the difference now?
