Dave Mehaffie

Dave Mehaffie is an Ohio business manager who participated in the 2021 United States Capitol storming. He was arrested on August 13, 2021 for his involvement in the riots. He faces serious charges in the capitol riots regarding assaulting law enforcement.

Criminal records have shown that he has a lengthy criminal history prior to the riots. In 1987, he and his wife attended an anti-abortion protest in front of the Dayton Women's Health Center, harassing and attacking female patients and employees. Both were charged with trespassing and assault. He was a member of a far-right abortion organization known as Operation Rescue, known for doing sit-in demonstrations in front of abortion clinics.

His father, Jim Mehaffie, served in the U.S. Navy Reserve for eight years. Jim Mehaffie was also the founder of Mehaffie's Pie Company business, in which Dave was formerly general manager of in the 1980s.
His family no longer owns the business, as they have sold the restaurant business to new owners.
He is often referred to as Tunnel Commander because of his actions involving him ordering other rioters to continue assaulting capitol police.
