~ Federico in his post on Hispachan. |
Federico Guevara Elizondo (January 2, 2001 - January 18, 2017) was a Mexican student who killed one person and wounded three others in Monterrey, Nuevo León, on January 18, 2017, before committing suicide.
The true reason why Federico committed a shooting at his school is unknown, but it is suspected that it must have been due to some mental illness.
Shooting edit
On January 18, 2017, at 8:51 a.m., Federico, sitting in a chair next to his classroom, pulled a 22 caliber firearm from his backpack and began shooting from a distance at his classmates, wounding 3 students and his teacher Cecilia Solís, who would die of brain death days later. Later, Federico shot himself in the stomach, dying later in a hospital.
The day before the shooting, Federico had made a post on Hispachan (a imageboard in Spanish similar to 4chan) where he announced that he was going to carry out a massacre, along with an image of Ted Bundy.
Trivia edit
- For a moment, it was thought that Federico belonged to Legion Holk (a Facebook group dedicated to creating black humor memes and that has been involved in various polemics), this because the same group Legion Holk claimed to be the place where Federico He said he would do the shooting. In the end it was discovered that this was false, but that did not prevent members of Legion Holk from paying tributes to him by calling him "hero" and making a controversial hashtag called #MasMasacresEnMexico (Spanish) #MoreMassacresInMexico (English).
- One of the main reasons why the shooting could not be avoided is because the Northeast American School was not part of the Safe School Program, which was in charge of the security of Mexican schools, and, among other things, to check backpacks of the students.
