Lockerbie bombing
The Lockerbie bombing was the terrorist bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland on December 21st, 1988. The attack killed all 259 people on board the Boeing 747 as well as 11 people on the ground. Flight 103 was a regularly scheduled transatlantic flight from London to New York City. Muammar Gaddafi took responsibility for the bombing of Flight 103.
