May 1 - Indigenous Australian Genocide: at Yeelanna, in South Australia, a group of natives are poisoned by a Shepherd named Patrick Dwyer in retaliation for stealing his products. Dwyer was arrested for murder, but the charges were dropped, due to lack of evidence. Dwyer later fled to the state of California in the United States.
May 27 - Indigenous Australian Genocide: at Waterloo Bay, in reprisal for attacks on settlements, A Wirangu tribe was slaughtered by settlers.
June 15 - James K. Polk dies of cholera a few months after the end of his single term as the 11th President of the United States.
