• March 1 - Korea declares independence from Imperial Japan and establishes a government-in-exile, the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, with Syngman Rhee as its president.

• April to June - The 1919 United States anarchist bombings take place.

• April 13 - The Jallianwala Bagh massacre: Reginald Dyer orders troops of the British Indian Army to fire their rifles into a crowd of unarmed Indian civilians in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, Punjab, killing at least 379 people and injuring over 1,200 other people.
• May 19 - Mustafa Kemal Atatürk lands at Samsun on the Anatolian Black Sea coast, marking the start of the Turkish War of Independence. 
• June 28 - The Treaty of Versailles is signed, formally ending World War I.
• July 5 - Enver, Djemal, and Talaat Pasha are sentenced to death in absentia by a Turkish court for their roles in organizing the Armenian Genocide.

• September 30 - The Elaine Massacre takes place when an estimated 100 to 237 Black people and 5 white people are killed in Elaine, Arkansas, by white mobs and vigilante militias assisted by federal troops.
