  • March 12 - Sukarno is overthrown as President of Indonesia by General Suharto and a group of Army officers. Sukarno is subsequently placed under house arrest and Suharto is declared president by the Indonesian parliament.
  • March 15 - Artur da Costa e Silva is named President of Brazil, succeeding Humberto de Alencar Castelo Branco.
  • April 4 to 8 - The Kapsan Faction incident: Kim Il-sung conducts a purge of the Workers' Party of Korea after uncovering a plot by a group of pro-Japanese Party members (known as the "Kapsan faction") to overthrow him.
  • April 7 - The Air France robbery is carried out by Henry Hill, Tommy DeSimone, Robert McMahon, and and Montague Montemurro, who steal $420,000 from the Air France cargo terminal at New York City's JFK International Airport.
  • April 21 - A group of Greek military officers, lead by Colonel Georgios Papadopoulos, stages a military coup and overthrows the Kingdom of Greece, subsequently establishing the military junta known as the Regime of the Colonels.
  • May 1 - Anastasio Somoza Deybale is elected President of Nicaragua for the first time.
  • June 5 to 10 - The Six-Day War is fought.
  • July 1 - Beginning of the War of Attrition.
  • July 6 - Beginning of the Nigerian Civil War.
  • July 23 to 28 - The 1967 Detroit riots take place following a police raid on an unlicensed bar. Widespread looting, property damage, arson attacks, police brutality, and arrests take place over the next six days until U.S. Army and Michigan National Guard troops are sent in to restore order. By the time riots end, 43 people are dead, 1,189 are injured, over 7,200 are arrested, and more than 400 buildings are destroyed.
  • August 1 - Valerie Solanas publishes SCUM Manifesto.
  • August 25 - American Nazi Party leader George Lincoln Rockwell is assassinated in Arlington County, Virginia by former Party member John Patler.
  • October 9 - Che Guevara is captured and executed in Bolivia after being tracked down by Bolivian special forces, with assistance from the CIA.
  • December 2 - Omar Bongo is named President of Gabon following the death of previous president Léon M'ba.
  • December 5 - The Đắk Sơn massacre is perpetrated by the Viet Cong in Đắk Lắk, South Vietnam. Between 114 and 252 are killed.
  • Unknown - The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine is founded by George Habash.
