• February 23 - Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych is ousted from office in the aftermath of the Euromaiden protests.

• April 14 - 276 schoolgirls are abducted from the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, Nigeria by Boko Haram.

• May 5 - Azov Battalion is founded.
• May 13 - Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is sentenced to 6 years in prison for bribery.
• May 16 - Beginning of the Second Libyan Civil War.
• May 21 - The Metro attack is perpetrated in Taipei by Cheng Chieh.
• May 22 - The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), lead by Prayuth Chan-o-cha, seizes power in Thailand as part of a coup d'état. The People's Democratic Reform Committee is disbanded.
• May 23 - Isla Vista shootings
• May 26 - Narendra Modi is elected Prime Minister of India.
• May 31 - The Slender Man stabbing: Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier lure their best friend, 12-year old Payton Leutner, into the woods of Waukesha, Wisconsin and stab her 19 times. Leutner manages to survive the attack.
• June 2 - The Palestinian Unity Government is established by Hamas and Fatah in an attempt to foster peace between the two organizations.
• June 8 - Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is elected President of Egypt.
• June 18 - Timothy Crump is stabbed to death by Noel Estevez, from which Timothy harassed and stalked since 2013.
• June 29 - The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant declares itself to be a worldwide caliphate, claiming global authority over all Muslims worldwide. Their leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, is formally recognized as Caliph.
• June 30 - The Free Sunnis of Baalbek Brigade pledges allegiance to Islamic State.
• July 17 - Eric Garner dies after being choked by police officer Daniel Pantaleo.
• August 2 - Lance Mason is arrested for domestic violence.
• August 3 to 8 - Sinjar Massacre: ISIL captures the city of Sinjar in Iraq. Over the course of five days, Yazidis in Sinjar are killed en masse, with an estimated 5,000 being killed. The massacre marks the beginning of ISIL's campaign of genocide against the Yazidis.
• August 7 - The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) finds both Nuon Chea and Khieu Samphan guilty of crimes against humanity committed during the Khmer Rouge regime and sentences them both to life in prison.
• August 28 - Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is elected President of Turkey.
• September 16 - Beginning of the Yemeni Civil War.
• October 20 - Martin Rouleau, a terrorist ran over and killed Warrent officer Patrice Vincent and injured one Canadian Forces member , then later he started in a car chase which ended up with crash and later on police shot and killed Roleau.
• October 22 - Michael Zehaf-Bibeau shot and killed Canadian Forces member Corporal Nathan Cirllio at War Memorial in Ottawa, then stormed the Parliament building where he was later killed by security forces.
• October 24 - Marysville Pilchuck High School shooting
• October 31 - Blaise Compaoré steps down as President of Burkina Faso.
• December 4 - Yaser Abdel Said is placed on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives List.
• December 5 - Keith Farnham pleads guilty to possession of child pornography.
• December 23 - Luka Magnotta is sentenced to life in prison for his role in the murder of Jun Lin.
• December 26 - Christine Weston Chandler commits vandalism while protesting Sonic Boom, all because Sonic's new design in it gave him blue arms. She went on to deface various pieces of Sonic Boom merchandise at a GameStop location.
