- February 27 - Colombian Army general Crispiniano Quiñones Quiñones is assassinated in La Vega, Colombia by members of FARC.
- February 29 - 6-year old Dedrick Owens shoots and kills his classmate Kayla Rolland, making him to be the youngest school shooter.
- March 17 - A church in Kanungu, Uganda belonging to the Movement for the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God erupts in flames, killing 530 of the Movement's followers in a fire that was believed to have been deliberately set by the Movement's leaders, Credonia Mwerinde and Joseph Kibweteere. Ugandan authorities find similar mass murder sites all over Uganda during a weeklong investigation, with over 900 of the Movement's followers being killed overall. Mwerinde and Kibweteere's bodies were not found, and authorities believed that they survived the mass murder and fled into hiding.
