  • January 6 - Kazakh Security Council Chairman Nursultan Nazarbayev declares a state of emergency after riots break out across Kazakhstan. He is subsequently forced to resign from his post.
  • January 7 - Gregory and Travis McMichael and William Bryan are sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2020 murder of Ahmaud Arbery.
  • January 15 - Malik Akram takes four congregants hostage at the Congregation Beth Israel synagogue in Colleyville, Texas, triggering an eleven hour standoff until an FBI team storms the synagogue and kills him.
  • January 20 - A car bombing at a prison in al-Hasakah, Syria, triggers a riot and mass escape involving hundreds of Islamic State detainees. Fighting begins as they attempt to gain control of the city and take 23 hostages.
  • January 22 - The "Freedom Convoy" sparks massive anti-vaxxer protests in Canada that quickly spread to the rest of the world.
  • January 26 - Syrian and American forces suppress the Islamic State uprising in al-Hasakah.
  • February 3 - ISIL Caliph Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi is killed during a U.S. counterterrorism operation in Atme near the Syrian-Turkish border.
  • February 9 - Ian Stewart is convicted of the murder of Diane Stewart. He later receives a sentence of life without parole.
  • February 13 - Paul Robson escapes from HMP North Sea Camp and stays on the run for four days before being recaptured.
  • February 14 - Quintez Brown, a Black Lives Matter activist attempts to assassinate Louisville mayoral candidate Craig Greenberg.
  • February 17 - A group armed with axes and torches attacks machines and vehicles at a Coastal GasLink Pipeline construction site near Houston, British Columbia, with workers still on site(none are injured). They escape from RCMP officers by setting booby traps on the road leading to the site, injuring one, and disappear into the woods. No group has claimed responsibility, but the attack is not believed to be linked to protests against the pipeline and has been condemned by Wet'suet'en tribal leaders.
  • February 18 - Kimberly Potter is sentenced to two years imprisonment for the manslaughter of Daunte Wright the previous year.
  • February 8 - Raymond Donini announces his plan of mass murder via his plants and their poison in South-Africa.
  • February 21 - Russian President Vladimir Putin signs a decree declaring the Luhansk People's Republic and Donetsk People's Republic as independent from Ukraine. The action is condemned by the United Nations, as a number of countries prepare to implement economic sanctions against Russia.
  • February 24 - Russian troops launch an invasion of Ukraine under Vladimir Putin's orders.
  • March - Bucha Massacre: Russian military forces slaughter civilians in Bucha, Ukraine, with an estimated 412 people being killed. Evidence of numerous war crimes, such as torture, rape, arson, and summary executions surfaces in the following weeks.
  • March 1 - Alexander Lukashenko pledges the support of Belarus to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
  • March 10 - Abu al-Hasan al-Hashimi al-Qurashi is named the new Caliph of the Islamic State.
  • March 13 - Northeast Cartel leader Juan Gerardo Treviño is arrested in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. Despite efforts by cartel gunmen to rescue him, he is extradited to the United States on the 15th.
  • March 26 - Jayana Tanae Webb is arrested for killing two state troopers and a pedestrian.

  • April 26 - Ruslan Akhtyamov shoots up the Veshkayma Kindergarten killing 5 including himself
  • May 5 - Gene Leroy Hart (who died in 1979) is identified as the perpetrator of the long-unsolved Oklahoma Girl Scout murders. Hart had previously been charged with the murders but had been acquitted due to a lack of evidence.
  • May 14 - Payton Gendron kills 10 people and injures 3 in a racially motivated mass shooting at Tops Friendly Markets supermarket in Buffalo, New York.

  • May 24 - Robb Elementary School shooting: 18-year old Salvador Ramos shoots up Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, leaving 22 dead (nineteen students and two teachers) and 18 injured (including his grandmother) before being shot and killed by a Border Patrol agent.
  • May 25 - Josh Duggar is sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison for child pornography.
  • June 1 - Amber Heard loses the defamation trial against her ex-husband Johnny Depp.

  • July 8 - Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is assassinated in Nara, Japan by Tetsuya Yamagami.
  • July 15 - Rafael Caro Quintero is arrested for the kidnapping and murder of DEA agent Kiki Camarena. Despite having previously been convicted of the crime, his conviction had been overturned due to being tried in the wrong court.

  • July 31 - Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri is killed by a U.S. drone strike in Kabul, Afghanistan.
  • August - The Zama Zama break through South African borders and start breaking in and stealing from the gold mines. 8 women are raped over 13 times by 7 Zama Zamas. Multiple police officers get assaulted, and homes get broken into. The Witpoortjie Movement harasses the assistant mayor and mayor of Roodepoort and terrorizes people they believe to be Zama Zamas.
  • August 12 - Islamic extremist Hadi Matar non-fatally stabs author Salman Rushdie at a literary festival in New York, on the anniversary of a fatwa declared against Rushdie by Ruhollah Khomeini over his book The Satanic Verses.
  • August 23 - Kelly Goodlett pleads guilty to helping to falsify a no-knock warrant which lead to the killing of Breonna Taylor in 2020.
  • September 2 - Fernando Sabag attempts to assassinate Cristina Kirchner
  • September 18 - Killing of Cayler Ellingson.
  • September 26 - The Nord Stream gas pipeline between Russia and Europe is bombed by unknown saboteurs, rendering three of the four pipes inoperable. Russia is widely blamed but is never definitively linked to the attack.
  • October 1 - Kanjuruhan Stadium disaster: Around 3000 Arema F.C. fans invade the pitch of Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang, Indonesia after Arema F.C. lost to Persebaya Surabaya, resulting in at least 131 deaths and at least 547 non-fatal injuries.
  • October 5 - The body of Debbie Griggs, whose husband Andrew was convicted of her murder in 2019, is found buried on a property owned by Andrew.
  • October 6 - Nong Bua Lamphu attack: 34-year old former police officer Panya Kamrab shoots up a local children's nursery, leaving 39 dead and 10 injured before killing himself.
  • October 8 - The Kerch bridge between Russia and Occupied Crimea is bombed, killing three.
  • October 8 - Frank Gilliard Allison and William Joseph Hale get into a road rage argument and tries to kill each other's daughter.
  • October 11 - Christian Brueckner, prime suspect in the alleged 2007 murder of Madeline McCann, is charged with five counts of rape.

  • October 30 - Andrew Leak petrol-bombs an immigration centre in Dover, England, before taking his own life.
  • October 31 - Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva narrowly wins election over Jair Bolsonaro, making him the first President of Brazil to be elected three times.
  • November 2 - Nikolas Cruz, perpetrator of the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, is sentenced to 34 consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole, one each for the total number of victims murdered and wounded during the shooting.
  • November 13 - A bombing at Taksim Square in Istanbul, Turkey kills at least 8 people and injures at least 81. Kurdistan Workers' Party member Alham Albashir was arrested and is the current suspect, although the PKK denies responsibility.
  • November 17 - Igor Strelkov, Sergey Dubinskiy and Leonid Kharchenko are convicted in absentia of shooting down Malaysian Airline Flight MH17 in 2014, killing 298 people.
