A Karma Houdini, in this context, is a historical villain who has one of the following traits:

  • the villain simply died peacefully in his/her bed; in a ruler's case, while still in power (examples: =Joseph Stalin=

  Mao Zedong, Kim il Sung, Kim Jong-il, Meles Zenawi, etc.)

  • the villain was deposed or put in a vulnerable position, but he/she escaped prosecution (example: Idi Amin)
  • the villain is still alive today, and is either in an invulnerable position or on the run
  • the villain committed suicide to avoid punishment for his/her crimes (example: Adolf Hitler)
  • was tried and convicted but deserves greater judgment
